In this week-long Mini Destroy + Construct Camp specifically designed for ages 5-7 our play space extends into our neighborhood where we will seek out found objects to deconstruct and incorporate into daily building projects.

Using screwdrivers, pliers and other tools, kids will destroy discarded printers, blenders and other common electronics to get inside and see how they work. Each day will begin with an outdoor scavenger hunt during which campers will go on an adventure to find their materials for the day. Then they will take their treasures back to the KoKo workshop, stocked with tools and other materials, where kids will design and build their own inventions and artwork inspired by their local environment and daily camp experiences. Kids will learn about the inner workings of electronics (and that free art supplies are everywhere) while developing skills of innovation and invention.

KoKo NYC teaching artists bring years of experience in self-directed, play-based learning to encourage kids to take healthy, managed risks and try new experiences while avoiding hazards (for example: using tools, working in teams, thinking about familiar objects in new ways).
