Make your way to the party room after the program and take home a fun memory from this evening with a custom side view caricature specially drawn by artist Mac Garcia.
Acrylic and Spray on wood, 2x3Artist: Stephanie Walton
Painted on wood, symbolizing strength and victory, the tree is a symbol of a fresh start on life and positive energy, good health and a bright future. Using the playful colors, patterns and textures to create the tree reminds us of childhood happiness, playfulness, love, cheerfulness, and curiosity. A life one should always be allowed to experience.
Stephanie Walton is an art specialist in Spring Branch ISD at Wilchester Elementary and an active member of her boys' scout pack and troop, her church and the art car community in Houston.
Acrylic and Chalk on canvas, 24x30
Artist: Caroline BennettI am honored to display my artwork among many other local artists in our community! I said yes to participate in this year's event as I want to support the mission of Turn it Gold in the "pursuit of elevating childhood cancer awareness" along with their "hopes to change the percentage of dollars invested in childhood cancer research and make a real difference for a cure". If I can be even just a tiny part of that mission by using my artistic ability, then that makes me very happy. Turn it Gold y'all! CHB Proverbs 31:8
Acrylic and oil on canvas, 24x36Artist: Jenny Grumbles
Brave individuals and bold action are such a big part of Turn it Gold. The composition, strokes, and unexpected colors in this piece parallel that bravery and boldness shown in the children, families, volunteers, and donors of Turn it Gold.
Acrylic & Paper on Canvas with a resin top coat. 24x36. Artist: Alison Donaldson
I was excited to participate in this project because I believe that art is a foundation of growth and expression for children. Exposure to art has been shown to drastically improve both mental health and overall physical well-being, in particular for those battling cancer. My hope is that this piece will be uplifting and will spark their own desire to create. Each individual heart was cut out of artwork painted by young artists from across the country. The bright colors, a staple in children's artwork, symbolize joy, life and energy. Each heart is unique and has its own perfectly different story, much like all children do.
Original Abstract on Canvas, 24x24
Artist: Shannon Weir
I am honored to be selected as one of the artists for the Turn it Gold Gala. This mixed mida abstract combines a neutral tone on tone pallet with a POP of graffiti gold. This piece is one of a two part series.
Acrylic on Canvas, 36x36Artist: Michelle Bush Children help us simplify. When I think of children, yours and mine, I see beautiful color. Through our children we remember to enjoy the beauty of something as basic, yet brilliant, as color. The deep blues and vibrant gold in the paintings show how two colors can magically bring elegance and charm to a simple canvas.
Acrylic on Canvas, 30x40Artist: Candy Tagney
Flowers are always inspirational to me as they are whimsical, colorful and full of life. I always enjoy having fresh flowers in my home, so why not enjoy them every day in a painting.
Watercolor, 24x30Artist: Keziah Kamp
I was inspired to paint this after hearing about Alex Bregman's support for childhood cancer & Turn It Gold. While you see Bregman's athleticism in the painting, his heart of gold was my inspiration.
Mixed Media on Canvas, 36x36
Artist: Candice Corley It's no coincidence that Gold is made from two stars colliding. I love that the families that I have seen walk through children with cancer truly shine like stars in the universe. When their worlds collide with others they stand out and reflect the character that has been refined and created through their suffering. I remember getting the text about Charlie Dina and immediately fell to my knees to pray. I love the Dina's impact on our community and how they are always reflecting the son of Righteousness, pointing others to Jesus and Hope. This was one of the many times I prayed for Charlie. I would stay up all night praying round the clock for his surgeries. I am so thankful for His glory in Charlie's story. This cause was important to me because my brother lost his best friend to cancer when they were ten years old. It impacted me greatly. I have seen both miraculous healing and suffering. I would love to help fund research and a cure by using my talents to support Turn it Gold.
