One-week stay at Les Bourdeillettes, a charming farmhouse on 75 acres on the Dronne River, which is full of trout. The restored farmhouse has 6 total bedrooms (3 masters) with 5 full bathrooms on three floors. There are formal and lavender gardens, a full pool, and walking trails. The fireplace is nice for those who might like to simply read something from our extensive library.

Full-time caretakers live in a restored barn on the property but out of your way. Don't see them unless you want to ask a question or need assistance. They speak both English and French fluently. Having lived in the area for over 20 years, they are familiar with where to go and what to do in the area. There are numerous outbuildings and restored barns with bikes and laundry.

A dear friend also lives in town one km away. She can be hired as a tour guide and driver by the hour or day. See the sights. Go to the traveling markets. See the cave paintings at Lascaux. Visit local painters. Eat at Michelin starred restaurants. Cook in. Drive to Bordeaux for the day or down to the Dordogne River for a canoe trip under castles Beynac and Castelnaud. Have our neighbor Louisette make you a simple but sumptuous local meal on the night you arrive or whenever you don't feel like cooking something else.

The kitchen was recently remodeled. Bathrooms on the next floor up were updated in early 2019. There is an attached gite with its own entrance, a master bedroom, a full bathroom, and its own kitchen if some people like to be able to get away from time to time.

Dates to be mutually determined by donor and winner.
