Make the Silent Films, music, and food event a family affair by purchasing kids tickets at $10 each.

Do you remember Silent Films? Silents are the films of the early era that were without synchronized sound, from the earliest film (around 1891), until 1927, when the first 'talkie', The Jazz Singer (1927) - was produced. In the earliest silent film days, movies were often accompanied by a phonograph recording. Then, movie theaters and other dream palaces provided live music from pianists, organists, Wurlitzers, and other sound machines. YOU have an opportunity to view some wonderful Silent Films, with musical scores newly-composed and performed live by our own Peter Engel Storms. And what a time you will have!!

Here is the agenda of this unusual offering: We will welcome you on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at 5:00 pm to Unity House. Prior to the film you will receive a program and typical 1920s appetizers and libations, including wine, prosecco, and Elderberry punch. You are welcome to dress in your 1920s finest, and we will have historical hats and shawls for the ladies to get you in the historical mood. A photographer will be on hand to take that snapshot for your Facebook page, or just for you!!

At about 6:00 pm, we will move to the sanctuary for the screening. The lights will be dimmed and for the next hour, we will be transported to the 1920s as Peter presents a curated selection of short silent films, all accompanied by his original scores.

After the screening, we will return to Unity House for a 1920s buffet of Prohibition Roast Pork, Gatsby's Creamed pasta with peas, Roaring twenties mixed salad, Capone's olive & cheese tray, assorted breads, rolls and muffins, Golden Age cookies, and other tasty treats.
