Middle school students are preparing for a challenging time in their life. Their bodies and brains are growing at rapid rates, they are flooded with hormones that impact their emotional life, their responsibilities are increasing exponentially, and social relationships become a lot more complicated. Psychological research
indicates mindfulness meditation is particularly helpful in helping adolescents maintain a sense of emotional and behavioral stability in the midst of these rapid changes.
Ascher Levy is a psychologist who has worked primarily with adolescents throughout his practice and would like to share this coping strategy with your children. He recently completed training in leading mindfulness workshops for children and adolescents.
In this workshop, he will lead a discussion about the types of challenges your youth are facing and introduce what role mindfulness meditation can play to help them navigate them. We will also practice several meditations and discuss these experiences, and students will leave with resources
to continue a mindfulness practice on their own.
