About:

I responded to a call for art titled "Bella Vista" which I felt challenged by because the parameters were very different than my usual subject matter, style and technique for creating collages up until that point. This is the second collage I created as a result of that call because I enjoyed the challenge of creating the first so much I automatically moved into making this second one and have created more collages in a similar style (more scenic)as a result.

Bio:

I collage because it is the artform that best expresses my awe of the world, people, places, things and nature. I assemble collages using various resources for images I meticulously hand cut in order to open new perspectives, appreciation for beauty, nature, the environment, life, humor and relationships. I choose my images inspired by a particular creature or creatures, images, patterns, color and texture.
My process is not necessarily an intellectual or entirely conscious one. I often choose images that I have a visceral reaction to and just know I want to work with them. I also like to experiment with different methods and techniques for gluing and assembling. I never know what the collage will look like in the end; I only know there is a sense of something that I begin to see and feel as it evolves into the final piece.
