Chicago radio legends Larry Lujack and Dick Biondi have been named charter inductees in the Hall of Fame of the new Illinois Rock & Roll Museum on Route 66 under construction in Joliet. Lujack, who died in 2013, was elected by museum members in the DJ category. Biondi was named recipient of the Founder's Lifetime Achievement Award and also will be inducted in the Hall of Fame. Ceremonies will be March 29 at the Renaissance Center in Joliet. (Here is the link.) Other inaugural inductees include Chicago, Cheap Trick, Ides of March, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Buckinghams and REO Speedwagon as performers; and WLS Radio, Chess Records and Thirsty Whale in non-performer categories.

Jim Peterik is an American musician and songwriter. He is best known as the founder of the band Survivor, as vocalist and songwriter of "Vehicle" by the Ides of March, and as co-writer of the anthem "Eye of the Tiger", the theme from the motion picture Rocky III. Peterik has co-written songs for 38 Special ("Rockin' into the Night", "Hold On Loosely"), Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackhawk, Cheap Trick, Sammy Hagar ("Heavy Metal"), Cathy Richardson, Ronnie Van Zant, Brian Wilson, REO Speedwagon, and The Beach Boys. Over the length of his spectacular career, he has worked with and developed lasting relationships with a long list of fellow (and remarkably talented) artists. Eighteen years ago, Peterik had the idea to record an album and mount a subsequent concert celebrating these friendships and collaborations. Thus began "World Stage". The CD and show were an immediate sensation, as Peterik pushed his own envelope into different styles and refined those with which he had already had significant success. Audiences were thrilled to see such a rich array of stars together on one stage, playing their own hits and Peterik's collaborations, interacting with Peterik and the other guests in ways heretofore unseen. Multi-star "mashups" are common on awards shows seen on television, but these are often haphazard and simply a big "jam session". Not so with World Stage. Peterik assembled a "house band" comprised of the top musicians in the Midwest, if not the entire country, some with their own Grammy nominations and scores of appearances on hit albums. Under Peterik's guidance, they researched and dove deep into the repertoire of each guest until they were keen and comfortable adapting and executing each nuance as if it was first nature. Peterik's easy style as a bandleader held one ironclad edict: Honor The Song. And they certainly did...and do.
