History of Fred's Camp:

Fred Greenburg fulfilled a life long dream of opening up his own summer day camp. Fred has been a pioneer in the camping industry. His ambition and love of children dates all the way back to his work at Deborah Boys' Club in the 1960's. He went on to direct a residential camp for children with disabilities in the 1970s, and day camps in the suburbs and the city throughout the 80s and 90s. He retired as a Physical Education teacher in 2003 after teaching at Pulaski Fine Arts Academy, a Chicago Public School, for 36 years. The gymnasium at Pulaski Academy bears his name.

As Fred turned 50 he made the move from director to owner and hasn't looked back. Alongside his wife Lynne, Fred has proudly built his camp the old-fashioned way, brick by brick. He thanks all of the amazing families he has met over the last 3 decades, as well the incredibly talented team members that have been a part of the Fred's Camp family. Fred thoroughly believes the strength of camp is, and always will be, the excitement and energy that the campers bring on a daily basis.
