Secular Genesis - A Multidisciplinary Look at our Ultimate Origins

Presenter: Ken Solis

Every culture and religion has an origin story, many of which are quite insightful and full of wonder. Science has also been studying the origin of the universe, of course, and continues to do so. The story it has discovered so far is not only more incredible than anyone could have imagined, but also supported by empirical observations. "Big History" is the formal discipline that studies the big events of the history of the universe from the Big Bang to even the possible ultimate outcome of the universe in the future. Pictorial slides, and possibly short videos will accompany this lecture that examines how a universe began smaller than the size of an atom, and eventually became not only immensely large, but grew in complexity to eventually produce a sun and planet we call the Sun and Earth, rain forests, you, and the information age.

Ken Solis, MD, MA has been a lecturer at two Big History conferences, and hopes to co-author "A Physics of Big History" in the future.

There is too much information for one lecture so Ken is offering two 90 minute sessions.

Snacks and beverages will be provided.
