This painting represents my feelings about time passing, children growing older, relationships changing, priorities shifting, and life happening. It also relates to the joy and growth that come with those processes and sometimes the sadness and heaviness too. Safe Alliance has evolved and serves a range of needs for people at different crossroads in their lives. I painted this especially for tonight and hope that the emotions come through the canvas. Artist Bio: Greta Hord studied painting and art education and received her BFA at East Carolina University's School of Art. She taught art for two years and then spent the next fifteen in the world of corporate recruiting. Painting all the while, she as recently focused exclusively on raising her four sons, and her art. Greta has participated in shows and worked with galleries in North Carolina and Virginia, and has done private commissions for over 20 years.
Greta is passionate about seeing art, teaching others about art, and creating art. She is inspired by forms in nature and finds the process of painting therapeutic and educational. Each painting represents a different moment and experience, each related to and building on the last. Her current work is heavily textured and her preferred medium is oil paint.
