I painted the first layer quickly and with the next few layers, I took my time. I used a palette knife for most of it. I wanted to get the blue of the water just right and the golden grasses the right color to capture a marsh on a bright, sunny, and windy day in February. Dimension of Piece (Inches): 18x36
Artist Bio: Carol Pighin graduated from San Francisco State University and is a native Californian. Carol and her family moved to Charlotte in 1995. She studied art at CPCC with Elizabeth Ross and Isaac Payne, at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Braitman Studios in Charlotte with Andy Braitman, and many workshops including Barbara Jaenicke, Larry Moore and Leslie Saeta. Carol served as President of The Guild of Charlotte Artists from 2008 to 2010. Carol is a member of the Guild of Charlotte Artists, Matthews Art Guild, North Carolina Plein Air Painters, and Plein Airies.
