Artist Bio: Deborah Kern was born in 1969, in the town of Plainfield, NJ. She grew up in the Philadelphia area where she took early fine arts classes at Moore College of art and went on to receive her BFA in painting from Parsons School of Design in New York City in 1991.
She spent the next two decades living and painting in New York, Mexico, Southeast Asia, and the Greek Islands to expand her vision and work, honing in on her signature style of highly charged dreamlike and gothic content with spidery swirling lines, highly charged acidic colors which contrast sharply with large dark or stark white multi-faceted empty spaces.
The work is a content driven exploration of the ever changing self as well as a means to see things as the artist desires to view them or perhaps really are.
The artist has exhibited in many group shows throughout New York City with the Organization of Independent Artists, as well as the Astoria Artists Coalition, and the Montserrat Gallery in Soho. More recently her work has been seen at a variety of group shows and juried competitions in the Southeast in spaces such as the Hart-Witzen Gallery, Charlotte Art League, and the Larry Elder Gallery as well as Artfields 2018 to name a few.
Mrs. Kern currently creates, exhibits, resides and teaches in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband and 3 children.
The impact you can make with a $500 bid: 16 hours of free legal representation for victims seeking protective orders.
