"Last Chance to Breathe" depicts the serenity of letting go of the past, embracing the future, and breathing again. It is meant to portray peace, calmness, and the power to move forward with confidence, independence, happiness, and balance. Painted using palette knives with acrylic, impasto gel, and heavy clear gel. Artist Bio: My life would be nothing without design. When I'm not designing I'm not living. I grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, in the small town of Jefferson. I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, taking up a major in Applied Mathematics and a minor in Art, later obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from The Art Institute of Charlotte. After college, I began exploring the world or oil and acrylic paint, which I only ever dabbled in prior. I established my design company, Ashley Nicole Inc., in 2011. I constantly experiment with mixed media within my painting; I like to use plastic, paper, glue, spackle, dirt, leaves, packaging popcorn, shredded cardboard, and much more. I want my paintings to be tactile, sculptural, bright and colorful. Design is my life and passion, paint is now my obsession.
