Passage is a painting that represent a progression of life events, both positive and negative that takes one to the present. The road has many twists and turns, sometimes detours and dead ends, but others are there to help guide you back on track. Bits of black represent dark times, small and in the distant. Corals and pinks highlight love, passion, and bright moments. The influx of soft aquas, sea greens, and ocean blues mark a new wave of calmness, growth and peace found at the end of one journey, marking the beginning of a new chapter. Passage is a reminder that one is stronger than the last falter, stumble, or obstacle. Passage is a letting go of the past, and living in the present with a renewed hope for a bright future. Dimension of Piece (Inches): 24x36x1.5

Influences/Inspirations as an Artist: Nature, Human Nature, Music, Dance, Emotions, and Energy
Abstract acrylic painting is perfect for me to express the abstract nature of energy, thoughts and feelings of my influences. I seek to express abstract, universal themes, thus the quick-drying acrylics work well as I love to see immediate results and work quickly.
My first art lessons began at 4 years of age at the Cincinnati Art Museum and I continued studying art the Baker-Hunt Institute from ages 9-18 in Covington, Ky, and studied Visual Arts, earning a BCA with Interdisciplinary Honors, UNCC.
Artist Statement:
My art is about color play. Like a dance, colors move across the canvas, interacting with shapes and textures. Like notes together form songs and words strung together form stories, I use color to express the exquisiteness of nature and human interaction in an abstract format. Travel and the interplay of dichotomy & harmony are my current themes. Feelings of daydreaming, longing to wander, and thoughts of wistfulness are expressed in the blue-greens of the oceans, grey-blues of skies, and lush greens of fields. Warm reds, oranges, and yellows capture strength of relationships, the energy of movement, and the excitement of growth. I work abstractly to convey the beauty of human interaction and nature in the simplest of forms: color, shape, & texture. Abstract art breaks free from any set ideas, philosophy, or experiences that are attached to symbols, objects, and scenes. Acrylic painting, with its fluid and flexible nature lends itself to visually give structure to the allure of nature, the complexity of human interaction, and the energy of life. Quick-drying and the ability to layer, acrylic paint echoes the fast pace of today's world and the layers show the time line of one experience a top of another. My goal is to have my art connect human experiences with the interplay of color, shapes, and texture and to inspire thoughts of travel and exploration.
