Artist: Harriet Godbole

Sea scene in pastel colors

"Harriet Godbole is an artist doing work in various media. Currently she is doing extensive work in acrylics, watercolor and alcohol inks. She has a BFA from the University of Hartford and she is currently involved in doing abstract paintings that reference the tangible world around her. Her inspiration and creativity comes from nature. She particularly enjoys making abstract landscapes and seascapes. Making art for her is a way to make connections. Inviting the viewer into the painting to visually wander through and perhaps stay awhile, she asks the viewer to make their own connections and interpretations of her work using their own creative experience. She hopes that her art inspires dialogue and an appreciation of the endless possibilities involved in art making. Her artwork emphasizes an experimental approach to the art making process. ""I love the physical approach to the making and creating of my artwork. The creative process gives me great joy. The goal is to not only enjoy the process and find it fulfilling, but also to create something that others will find as fulfilling and enjoyable as I do.""
Harriet's choice of media can be used in a fluid and free-flowing way. The use of the medium in this way promotes inspiration and allows for endless possibilities and surprises that allow her pictorial story to develop.
Harriet was born in Greece and has lived in the U.S. most of her life. She now makes Florida her home living there with her family in a quaint little community on the Gulf reminiscent of her Mediterranean roots. Her work tends to incorporate the colors reflected in the amazing sunsets on the Gulf.
