For those who love Max and Ruby, Noisy Nora, Yoko, and more, the joyful art of Rosemary Wells is instantly recognizable. These images are "warm-up" drawings for her forthcoming book 100 First Words with Mother Goose (2020).
Wells has written and illustrated 120 books for children. She has won numerous awards, including a 1988 Golden Kite Award, several International Reading Association Children's Choice and Teacher's Choice Awards, and more than a dozen School Library Journal Best Book of The Year Awards. Wells was the first Carle Honors Artist in 2006. Her work was featured in The Carle's exhibition Iconic Images: 10 Years of Collecting for The Carle (2012).
All proceeds benefit The Carle's mission to instill a love of art and reading through picture books.
Artwork is framed by R. Michelson Galleries using archival materials.
Winners can take their artwork immediately after The Carle Honors. Absentee winners will receive their artwork via Federal Express; a flat shipping fee of $150 per artwork will apply.
