Pamela Zagarenski's acrylic painting served as cover art for A Celebration of Beatrix Potter (2016), an anthology marking Potter's 150th birthday. As she painted Peter's wistful expression, Zagarenski thought about how much Beatrix and her characters must miss each other.
Zagarenski is the winner of two Caldecott Honors for her books Red Sings from Treetops: A Year in Colors (2010) and Sleep like a Tiger (2012). Her books have been Booklist Editor's Choices, Horn Book Fanfare Books, Bulletin Blue Ribbon Books, and winners of Bank Street's Claudia Lewis Award.
All proceeds benefit The Carle's mission to instill a love of art and reading through picture books.
This item was framed by Stonington Frame Shoppe in Stonington, Connecticut.
Winners can take their artwork immediately after The Carle Honors. Absentee winners will receive their artwork via Federal Express; a flat shipping fee of $150 per artwork will apply.
