About the Piece

Immersing myself fully in the life of construction sites has always been my passion. There are so many things going on-laborers, a variety of materials, dust, noise, expectation, worries, satisfactions, and observations. In this scene, a landscape architect is reviewing what has happened since our last visit to this job site. This time he is paying particular attention to the condition of the birch trees. Many of the tasks involved in his work as a landscape architect require his intuition and site experience. In a few minutes he is able to evaluate whether these trees are doing well or not, and he is always imagining the future as he observes the present. In this piece, I am trying to capture this moment of intense observation and prognostication. A common theme in my portraits is putting myself in the subject's place and making observations on paper about them.
