"Ambient Memory"
Encaustic over C Print on Board
April 1, 2019
Edition 1
12" x 26"

About the Piece
Return visits to the waterfront have yielded a series of images of pilings from an old dock. The loose but striking grid of dock pilings, marked in time by barnacles and stains, is embedded with the cycles of memory and tide. I find the image a compelling base on which to work with the fluidity of encaustic.

His work is characterized by its sensitive response to difficult sites, a strong conceptual order expressed in a Modernist, even minimalist vocabulary, and the sophisticated use of plants to create a sense of place.
