About the Piece

Andrew C. Ko began pursuing photography with the realization that there are commonalities between this medium and the field of medicine in their ability to provide a sense of peace, comfort, and harmony. He has always been impressed by the virtue of photography in imparting certain human emotions through the simple power of composition, lighting, and timing. As an artist, he finds great satisfaction in knowing that perhaps even one of his works might produce a sense of calm and order in a world of chaos. Through his work, he strives to balance the unbalanced mind, providing a meaningful level of peace in a world often consumed by tragedy. He invites the audience to open their minds and enter the world as he sees it.

About the Artist

In 2015 Ko took first place in the Architecture and Bridges category, and third place in the Advertising Travel/Tourism category, at the Moscow International Foto Awards (MIFA). He received numerous 'honorable mentions' at the MIFA, the International Photography Awards, and the Prix de la Photographie Paris (PX3). His work was exhibited at the MIFA Winners Exhibition in Moscow, Russia, in November 2015, and in 2016 he took third place at the City of Laguna Beach Arts Commission's juried Fine Art Exhibition. In 2017 his work was selected by Philip Brookman, consulting curator of photography at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., for an international, juried exhibition at the Center for Photographic Art, founded by iconic artists Ansel Adams, Wynn Bullock, and Brett Weston in Carmel, California. He was also a finalist at the 2017 and 2019 Siena International Photo Awards. His works were exhibited at the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts from 2016 to 2018 and have been selected for John Wayne Airport Community Focus Space Solo-Style Exhibition in October 2019.
