About the Piece
I've always been fascinated by plants and their flowers; by the geometry, the patterns, and the color. They don't reveal themselves in a casual glance. I want to look at them closely and study all the variety and complexity. My paintings are large; they capture the details of my discoveries and hopefully capture the eye and imagination of the viewer.

About the Artist
Erin Cannon is a landscape architect and artist based in Houston, Texas. She has been a practicing landscape architect since 1984 and has the privilege of working on projects throughout the United States and China. She has been drawing since she discovered her father's colored pencils. Her preferred medium today is watercolor. Most of her paintings begin with her photographs of the subject, with the favorite subjects having a high degree of contrast, between light/shadow and color contrasts.
