"Diving Board"

Tiny Glass Seed Beads

2017

7.25" x 1.5"

About the Piece
This beaded bracelet was inspired by the paintings of David Hockney. The diving board hovering over the water is depicted with approximately 3,500 tiny, Japanese, precision-made glass seed beads. Each bead is individually hand-stitched by needle with robust Japanese nylon beading thread, taking upwards of 100 hours to complete. The combination of glass beads and thread creates a sensual drape that feels wonderful and continues to improve over time. The sheen and colors of the "Diving Board" bracelet vary delightfully when it is exposed to different levels of light. My other bracelets may be found on my Etsy site: CassSalzwedelJewelry.

About the Artist
Cass Salzwedel grew up in Washington State's scenic San Juan Islands. Her beaded bracelets are inspired by her childhood adventures, her travels, and often by her work with the talented landscape architects of Gustafson Guthrie Nichol.
