About the Piece

View to the northwest at White Sands National Monument, May 25, 2019. As a photographer I shoot the cultural landscape, whether with or without people. National monuments are a testament to our cultural heritage. One of the world's great natural wonders, White Sands engulfs approximately 275 square miles of the northern Chihuahuan desert in New Mexico. The dramatic landscape of rare, white gypsum dunes was commissioned in 1933 and opened to the public in 1934.
