  5. 2016 Justin Merlot Paso Robles. Valued at $30. Donated by Miranda Watkins. Tasting Notes from the Winemaker: "Appearance: Bright, medium ruby/purple core with a black hue, lighter toward the rim. Aroma: Aromatic with ripe cherry, blackcurrant and red plum fruit, vanilla, cinnamon cocoa, dried autumn leaf, cedar, book leather and a subtle floral character. Palate: Dry, moderate to full-bodied, with ripe black and red cherry, blackcurrant and baking spice on the entry. The mid palate is a mix of sustained fruit and spice, sweet tobacco and a little cocoa with a great balance of structural textures as the palate evolves. The finish is moderately long with a mix of fruit and spice notes, a little mint, fresh acidity and fine, firm tannins that texturally tie everything together nicely." -www.justinwine.com Pair with" rotisserie chicken with garlic, thyme and lemon and roasted potatoes, or with veal chops with a morel mushroom cream sauce." justinwine.com
