VMFA Private Tour Led By Director Alex Nyerges And A Private Cocktail Reception for 20
Join VMFA Director Alex Nyerges (or VMFA Curator and Jack and Mary Frable Curator of Ancient Art Peter Schertz) as he leads a tour of "Treasures of Ancient Egypt: Sunken Cities" for a party of 20.
Dive into one of the most astonishing underwater discoveries of all time. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts presents a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the recovered treasures of two powerful Egyptian cities that sank into the Mediterranean 1,200 years ago after cataclysmic events. The exhibition includes stunning works of art brought to the surface by archaeologists beginning in 1996. See what remains of these mighty centers of trade, where Egyptian and Greek cultures merged in art, worship and everyday life.
A special VIP cocktail reception will follow in the Claiborne Robertson Room overlooking the E. Claiborne and Lora Robins Sculpture Garden. Avoid the crowds for this exclusive evening of art and dining!
The VIP Private Tour led by Director Alex Nyerges or Jack and Mary Frable Curator of Ancient Art Dr. Peter Schertz will be held from 5:40-6:30 p.m. and the VIP Cocktail Reception will be held from 6:30-8 pm.
This package includes complimentary on-site parking in the deck for guests and the auction winner receives a complimentary copy of the exhibition catalogue. Exhibition dates are May 23, 2020-Jan. 18, 2021. Excludes Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, weekends dependent upon schedule.
