Take a Private Plane to Play at Merion Golf Club
After arriving via private plane King Air 350i, stroll the hallowed fairways of legendary Merion Golf Course as you and two friends join member and Collegiate parent Scott Redmond to play Merion's East and West Courses.
Start your morning with a round of golf on Merion's East Course (caddies included). Designed by Hugh Wilson, Merion's East Course has long been considered the best course on the tightest acreage in America, and has hosted 18 USGA championships, more than any other golf venue in the country. Merion's East is also home to some of the USGA Championships greatest moments: from Robert Tyre Jones, Jr.'s completion of golf's elusive Grand Slam at the 1930 U.S. Amateur to Ben Hogan's awe-inspiring performance and now legendary one-iron on the 72nd hole during the 1950 U.S. Open. Merion looks forward to continuing its commitment to championship golf when the Club hosts the 2022 Curtis Cup Match and the 2026 U.S. Amateur.
After your first round, have lunch in Merion's dining room, also known as the Trophy Room. One of its two walls is dominated by a glass-fronted display case, which contains, among other memorabilia, replicas of the USGA championship trophies presented at Merion. The collection includes scaled-down versions of the trophies from the four tournaments that made up Bobby Jones' Grand Slam, which he completed at Merion in 1930 by defeating Eugene Homans on the 29th hole of that year's U.S. Amateur.
After lunch, your group will play Merion's West Course. Also designed by Mr. Wilson, the West Course is a charming short 18-hole course (Golf carts are available for the West Course). Its clubhouse is a century-old log cabin called the Bungalow, and its flagsticks are topped by flags rather than the egg-shaped wicker baskets of the East Course.
Following golf, change clothes in Merion's famed two-level locker room which features Merion's legendary showers with heads the size of manhole covers. Return to the Trophy Room for dinner and beverages before you board your private plane for your flight to Richmond.
Mutually agreeable date to be arranged with donors between April and November. Due to popularity, book quickly. Package includes: flight in private plane, rental car to and from Philadelphia airport, East Course caddie and golf fees, West Course golf cart and golf fees, and lunch and dinner with beverages at the Merion Golf Clubhouse.
