This photograph is included in Cape Light, Joel Meyerowitz's first book consisting of a series of contemplative color photographs taken on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Cape Light is acknowledged to be one of the most influential and popular photography books in the latter part of the twentieth century, breaking new ground for both color photography and for the medium's acceptance into the art world.
Meyerowitz, a "street photographer" in the tradition of Henri Artier-Bresson and Robert Frank, began photographing in 1962, shifting early in his career from black and white to color photography.
