Perched on a cliff, 300 feet above the River Lot, between the Dordogne and Provence, the village is just 1 3/4 hours north of the Toulouse International Airport. Stay two weeks if you can, there is so much to do: stroll to the top of the village to enjoy your coffee and croissant over spectacular views; dine on gourmet food in one of the many excellent local restaurants, or make your own coq au vin with your fresh market purchases in the well- appointed kitchen; visit the artists' shops and galleries scattered throughout the village; tour a nearby Chateau built by the father of Charlemagne; go wine tasting and discover the famous "Black Wine of Cahors"; visit the remarkable cave paintings at Pech Merle; shop the many markets in the other beautiful villages nearby.

You may want to hike France's Grand Randonee trail system or take a cruise along the river, or bicycle for gorgeous traffic-free miles on the flat roads of the river valley, or kayak and canoe between ancient villages! You could fish for giant carp or just simply drive the old, winding road along the Cele and Lot Rivers, considered to be among the most beautiful 100 kilometers in all of France. And, believe it or not, there is plenty more.
