Families with children ages 8-13 can travel back in time to experience the life stories of some extraordinary NYC youngsters who lived in New York City from the 17th- 20th centuries. Historical figures include the daughter of a Dutch merchant; Alexander Hamilton; the first African American medical doctor; the first Latin American to play baseball in the U. S.; the children who rode the orphan trains from New York City to rural areas in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; and the newsboys and girls who sold papers on the city streets in the twentieth century.
