Our most-requested program, "Letters" touches both students and adults of various backgrounds and demonstrates the universality of the human experience.

Includes:

  • performance with two actors
  • educator to guide post-show Q&A discussion
  • travel within the NYC metro area
  • autographed copy of "Martin & Anne" children's book by Nancy Churnin

Not included:

  • travel and lodging if more than 2.5-hour commute from New York City

Letters from Anne and Martin, is our two person show that highlights the parallels between Anne's thoughts and the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., featuring the words of her diary and his Letter from Birmingham Jail. This performance evokes the important messages from these legendary figures, as they write of their hopes and plans for a peaceful and unified world.

It serves as a great teaching tool for not only WWII and the Holocaust but also the Civil Rights Movement. After the performance, the actors and an educator from the Anne Frank Center engage with the audience on the parallels they see between the two figures and their moments in history and how we can learn from their example to combat intolerance today.

  • Letters does contain references to historically racist language that may be offensive to some. This language can be easily taken out of the script and made suitable for younger audiences.
  • Letters does gear toward more mature audiences, but we have performed for audiences as young as the 3rd grade.

The performance, including the Q&A portion of the event, last a total of 60 minutes.

The Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect
offers a wealth of stimulating outreach programs to schools, teachers, and students. Our live performance programs are an excellent way to bring Anne's story to life in your community, facilitate dialogue about injustice, and spark ideas to confront intolerance and discrimination today.

AFC performances have reached thousands through K-12 schools, colleges, religious institutions, community centers, and educational conferences. Our talented actors have also performed in communities hosting our traveling exhibits, such as the Clinton Presidential Center, the Dallas Holocaust Museum, and many other venues across the country.
