In his 16-year professional career - 11 in the NBA and five in the ABA - Julius Erving established himself as one of the coolest competitors to ever step on the court. His smooth moves and even smoother demeanor - as shown perfectly in these images -- was something to behold. He was one of the most admired players of his generation and is still revered as a true game-changer. The first five years of his professional career out of the University of Massachusetts were spent in the ABA. He quickly became a national phenomenon with his tremendous individual play. When the ABA merged with the NBA in 1976, his career took off on an international level. He was an instant success as an NBA rookie at the age of 26, leading the Philadelphia 76ers to an NBA Finals championship in 1983. Six iconic images dot this miniature backboard.
