Inspiration: In 1994, Denso Wave Corporation launched the Quick Read Code to track parts throughout the automotive manufacturing process. The functionality of the 2D barcode depends on its ability to be distinguished from ambient visual information by an optical scanner. The inventors of the code found a ratio of black and white spaces of 1:1:3:1:1 to be the least common pattern in the thousands of images scanned. This pattern appears as concentric black and white squares, used to located the code and determine its position prior to reading. the simple homing device is an icon to be revered.
