Inspired by the depictions of non-conformists and the cultural practices that develop around expectations of social ritual, this piece envisions controlled chaos through a combination of vivid colors and rethinking linear vs. nonlinear.

Through a combination of acrylics, wax, and resin, Rausch uses his signature style of creating from an overhead perspective to achieve a bold, sophisticated linear look; redefining how the human eye sees lines. Many have compared viewing this as a bird flying above the urban landscape, taking in its patchwork-like images.

Artist Michael Rausch is a life-long native of Portland, OR and divides his time between Portland and Palm Springs, CA with his husband, retired Major League Baseball umpire, Dale Scott.
