The Aspen Scarf is part of the "innature" line of fashion created by Dr. Nalini Nadkarni, a Professor of Biology at the University of Utah. She was awarded the WINGS WorldQuest Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. This award facilitated her collaboration with fashion designers in New York City, with whom she is exploring how fashion can be a force for saving nature.

The leaves depicted on this scarf belong to the Trembling Aspen tree, a graceful tree with smooth white bark, whose leaves quiver in the slightest breeze, and turn to reds and golds in the fall. It is the state tree of Utah. Its distribution is declining because of increasing periods of drought in its native habitat.
