Since becoming the National Hockey League's 27th team on May 4, 1998, the Nashville Predators have evolved from a young expansion franchise to a model of consistency as one of just five teams to reach the postseason seven of the last eight seasons and one of three to post seven consecutive 40-win seasons. Nashville's 698 points since the beginning of the 2005-06 season are fifth-most in the NHL. The Predators are also proud to support the Nashville community that supports them, with the Nashville Predators Foundation raising more than $3 million in grants and donations for area charity organizations.

Nashville Soccer Club began to play in the USL and brought to the city what fans have yearned for, professional soccer. Kickoff on Nashville SC's historic season began on February 10, 2018, when the club played host to MLS club, Atlanta United, at its home, First Tennessee Park, in a friendly. While Nashville ultimately lost the game 3-1, the club scored its first-ever goal, a one-touch strike from Ropapa Mensah. Nashville SC has continued to build its fanbase in its inaugural season, averaging over 10,000 fans a game, while drawing over 18,000 to its two home games at Nissan Stadium. The atmosphere the home fans have created has been second to none in the USL this season as Nashville has made First Tennessee Park a fortress, drawing capacity crowds and providing exciting moments.

Yannick Weber signed a one-year contract with the Nashville Predators on July 1, 2016. Weber had eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 73 regular-season games. He had one assist in 22 playoff games but helped Nashville advance to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since entering the NHL in 1998 before losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games. Weber had five points (two goals, three assists) in 47 games in 2017-18, and scored one goal in four playoff games.
