CIA graduate John Doherty '78 is chef-owner of BLACKBARN in Manhattan's NOMAD district. After serving as executive chef of the renowned Waldorf=Astoria for many years, the esteemed Chef Doherty has created a restaurant that provides spectacular food and extraordinary service in a warm, rustic environment.
Chef Doherty will welcome four of you into his kitchen, where he will saber a bottle of Champagne then lead you through a hands-on dessert soufflé-making experience. Then, it's off to the Chef's Table, where Chef Doherty and his team will prepare a five-course tasting menu with wine pairings for all of you. The Chef's Table menu changes every month, offering the best of what local farmers have to offer. Dining in the kitchen offers an added element of entertainment not found anywhere else. The chefs move stealth-like in the kitchen around you, creating one dish after another in rapid sequence.
"The Chef's Table gives me the chance to not only cook from my heart but to interact with my guests in a more intimate setting," Chef Doherty says.
