Impress your friends with a bordeaux jeroboam-that's five liters or almost seven standard bottles!-of Castello Banfi's Brunello di Montalcino 2012. The wine has an intense ruby red color, with garnet reflections. Its bouquet is described as ethereal, wide, and light vanilla, with a full, soft, velvety taste, evoking sensations of licorice, spices, and light goudron note.
Brunello di Montalcino is particularly suited for pairing with red meat, game, and aged cheeses.
Nestled between the Orcia and Ombrone rivers in Tuscany, Castello Banfi estate is unique for its wine culture and tradition. A constellation of vineyards dots this 3,000-hectare (7,400-acre) estate and its wines are the result of careful selection from the best of those vineyards.
This classic of Banfi's production comes from 100% Sangiovese grapes, grown more than 700 feet above sea level on the southern hillsides of Montalcino. Meticulous grape selection is followed by vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel and wood tanks. The wine is then aged for two years in French and Slavonian oak barrels and another 8-12 months in the bottle before release. The result is the most aristocratic combination of the ancient and wise wine-making tradition of Montalcino with winemaking modernity.
Provided by Cristina Mariani-May and Banfi Vintners, this is the largest bottle of Brunello di Montalcino produced.
Restrictions: Valid through 4/19/2020. Must be at least 21 years old. Wine will be shipped to the winner, but within the U.S. only.
