Take Flight for a Ten-Day Tropical Birding and Cultural Tour of Chiapas, Mexico for Two with Chiapas Birding Adventures

The state of Chiapas, located in the tropical area of southernmost Mexico, is noted for its wide variety of bird species and rich cultural heritage. The fortunate winners of this trip with Chiapas Birding Adventures will arrive in Villahermosa and spend the next nine days birding throughout Chiapas with a small group of up to eight at locations including Olmec Park, featuring treasures from the ancient Olmec culture alongside abundant birds, the Motiepa Trail in Palenque, with a visit to town's archaeological site and museum, the Bonampak archaeological site, famous for its murals, the Yaxchilan archaeological zone and the Las Guacamayas Reserve, the last area where the Scarlet Macaw can be observed in the wild, by boat on the Lacantun and Tzendales rivers, around Lagos de Montebello with its higher-elevation bird species, and at the Moxviquil Reserve. You'll also explore highlands city of San Cristobal de Las Casas and its Sergio Castro Museum, followed by a visit to the indigenous villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan where you'll tour the Museo del la Medicina Maya, before a departure from Tuxtla Guiterrez airport. Your tour will be led by Brock Huffman, a former criminal defense attorney from Texas, who has been living and birding in Chiapas for the past decade and authored two area field guides. Let's see some high-flying bids for this opportunity to view over 650 species of migratory warblers, hummingbirds, flycatchers, orioles, and other species of interest in the Mexican tropics.

Please note: Trip is all-inclusive except for personal items and alcohol. For single travelers a $350 supplement applies. Valid passports required; airfare not included; winter 2020 trip dates scheduled in January, February and March, with departures on Fridays and returns on Mondays.
