Help Preserve Our Pathways to Nature

In 1871, the first Shawangunk carriage roads and trails were developed by the Smiley Family. Today, these historic carriage roads are being used by hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. But bad weather, fallen trees, erosion, and public use have an ongoing impact on these priceless pathways. This year our Stewardship team has been focusing on restoring the Upper Duck Pond and Lenape Lane Carriage Roads in the Mohonk Preserve Foothills at a cost of nearly $200,000. This is just one example of the ongoing hard and expensive work that the Stewardship staff undertakes to keep the carriage roads open and in good condition for all those who love where they lead us. So paddles up to support the folks who restore and maintain the carriage roads, trails and all of the Preserve's facilities so they can be enjoyed for another 150 years.
