-Oil Painting of Irish landscape by Anne Wickham Smith

About the Artist: Anne Smith grew up in Bedford, New York, a suburb outside of Manhattan. During college, she worked for a film strip company as their visual editor, and so began her career in video and film production. For the next twenty years, she designed and produced new business presentations, multi-media shows, went on to do films and videos for a variety of clients, and in 1986, founded Annie Productions, a film production company based on Newbury Street in Boston.

In 2004, Anne took some oil painting lessons and was hooked. She found a studio to rent on Harrison Avenue in the South End of Boston in 2005, and committed herself to a two-year contract. She stayed at her Harrison Avenue studio for another ten years. She left Harrison Avenue to dedicate herself to be painting out in the landscape, and expanded to a second studio in Lenox, MA in the Berkshires.

She has studied with the some of the best oil painters in the country: Tom Ouellette, Stuart Dunkel, Donald Demers, Joe McGurl, David Leffel, Cathy Anderson, Qiang Huang, Mary Erickson, Susan Lyon, Scott Burdick, Susan Gilkey, Rosalie Nadeau, and many others. Trained in classical painting for the first five years, she has developed a style that expresses her attachment to the beauty and serenity of the natural landscape. Her years in the film industry have given her a unique talent for composition, an understanding of light, and an ability to work productively out in the field. She has painted all over New England, France, Italy, Ireland, and England. Anne is a member of The Berkshire Artists Guild, the Belmont Artists, and was recently accepted to the Oil Painters of America as an associate.
