Plein Air Painting 6" x 6 ".

William Crawley is a native Californian who has been a scene painter for over twenty-five years.

" Nothing surpasses the immediacy and freshness of a well-executed painting done outdoors and working in "plein air" has given me a much keener insight into the painting process plus a deeper awareness of my surroundings." Working in the mediums of watercolor, pastel and oil paints, William has shown an ability to transform a scene into its most aesthetic elements.

After receiving his teaching credential from California State University Long Beach he went on as an instructor for the Los Angeles School System teaching drawing and painting through the community education program.

He has also been recognized as a Modonnari or street painter using pastel to create both whimsical and classic scenes on the pavement.

William is a member of SOCALPAPA, LPAPA and the Pastel Society of San Diego ( PSSD). He was recently honored by being invited to showcase his urban pastel paintings at the dedication of the new Wilshire Towers in downtown Los Angeles.

" I try to convey in my work a sense of time and place of the selected terrain as seen through my eyes. A world of familiar and sometimes not so familiar scenes that hopefully entertain the viewer and maybe transport them into my unique view of the world."

William's work has won numerous awards and is in numerous private and corporate collections in the U.S.

and abroad.
