The Dugout Ranch is a jewel of the American West, spanning 340,000 acres of land at the gateway to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. In 1997, The Nature Conservancy joined with the Redd family to protect this vital landscape. The Dugout is also home to the Canyonlands Research Center (CRC), an outdoor laboratory for cutting- edge research on climate change and arid lands which attracts scientists from around the globe. The Dugout and the CRC are not open to the public, so this is a special chance to venture behind the scenes at this remarkable private property.
