Join wildlife biologist and 2017 BHA Aldo Leopold Award Recipient Ed Arnett and his dogs in pursuit of sharptails and prairie chickens across the remote backcountry grasslands of Nebraska - all on YOUR public lands!

Here's what last year's winners had to say.

"When I saw this hunt up for auction last year it was a no-brainer, bid 'till it hurts type of item. A hunt on a legendary slice of the American Prairie that has a rich history lead by Dr. Arnett who carries the experience and knowledge, not to mention skills in the kitchen to make this an incredible experience. My wife and I were not let down, we had an incredible adventure in the Sandhills that will not be soon forgotten. We choose to go early in the year for the chance at sharptails and doves and came home both. We are relatively inexperience upland bird hunters, but knew this would be a great opportunity for us. Ed was a gracious host, supporting us with everything beyond what we couldn't get on the plane, kept our bellies full of incredible food, and glasses full. If you're looking to check off a bucket list hunt on the prairie, or are an experienced uplander looking for a new landscape to hunt I can't recommend this hunt enough, you won't be disappointed...but you might want to be prepared for some competitive bidding." - J.R. Young

The Sandhills of Nebraska are the single largest intact grassland ecosystem in North America that sit atop the Ogallala Aquifer - the largest and most intricate wetland ecosystem in the United States. This region is home to more than 300 vertebrate species and 720 different species of plants. The rich history of the Sandhills includes an extraordinary, yet controversial, forest reserve created by Theodore Roosevelt in 1902 - an enormous experimental "hand-planted" forest that remains intact today. Surrounding Roosevelt's experimental forest are intact grasslands that extend for miles and more than a hunter can walk in multiple days - and these sand dune grasslands are prime habitat for our native prairie grouse species! There is fabulous dove hunting early in the season, and waterfowl opens in mid-October, both offering sportsmen and women opportunities to take a break from long walks chasing prairie grouse.

This trip will be for 4 DAYS OF HUNTING - 4 NIGHTS CAMPING with lots of hiking, eating and story-telling that will generate a lifetime of memories! Dates of the hunt are negotiable between September 1 and October 20, 2019. The trip will be for two hunters (non-hunting guests welcome), with all food and drinks provided, as well as any needed camping gear like tents, cots, and all cooking gear. Hunters will need to cover travel to the hunt area near Thedford, NE and should bring their own guns, ammo, sleeping and personal gear, and campfire stories! Also, each hunter will need to purchase a 2019 Nebraska small game and other licenses required (~$110).
