Quogue Wildlife Refuge is asking for an Appeal to support their exciting plans for STEM Education

Goal: EcosySTEM Lab at Quogue Wildlife Refuge - STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)

The Quogue Wildlife Refuge is looking to create an STEM lab with an environmental and conservation twist - a self-appointed "ecosySTEM" lab that will be utilized to promote nature education while incorporating science, technology, engineering and math.

The topics of focus will include soil analysis, freshwater pond ecosystem studies, and wildlife surveys; all of which will be conducted on the Quogue Wildlife Refuge's 305 acres.

Creating an ecosySTEM lab will allow educators to add STEM curriculum to our environmental Programming, especially for the 50th Anniversary of the Summer Ecology Program. To reach an even larger audience, the lab will be used for a "STEM of the Season" program to offer to the public, as well as onsite research projects that local school Environmental clubs can contribute to. The funds would be utilized to purchase and install collaborative seating for the ecosySTEM lab, a tiered seating teaching space, as well as a dual purpose whiteboard projector screen, projector, scientific instruments including microscopes, pond testing kits, and educational STEM materials on display.
