Mira Nakashima, Wepman Table with Butterfly and Highly Figured, Free-Grain Edge

21" x 18" x 17"h, 1 1/4" t, American Black Walnut and East Indian Rosewood butterfly.

Recognized today as one of the leading innovators in 20th century furniture design and a guiding force of the American craft movement, George Nakashima's roots in Bucks County can be traced back to 1943, when he established his first woodworking studio in New Hope. Still producing custom-designed furniture under the guidance of daughter, Mira Nakashima, the studio remains vital and vibrant-a place where Nakashima's "organic naturalism" remains the guiding precept.
