The winning bidder will receive one, beautifully cellared bottle of this marvelous bottle, with label featuring artwork by Paul Delvaux.
Though 1985 was one of the driest years on record in Pauillac, it produced one of the top vintages of the 1980s. The final blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon with almost equal amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot.
According to John Gilman, this fantastic vintage is just now hitting its stride, and will be at peak drinkability between now and 2075. In 2015, James Suckling awarded it 99 points, saying, "What an awe-inspiring nose of currants, shaved lead pencil, white truffles and earth. It's full-bodied and enveloped by silky tannins that lead to an earthy, long finish. Old, traditional Bordeaux with soul and remarkable complexity. Sensational."
