The countdown to liftoff begins with the flash of fire as the rocket engines ignite. Seconds later, the rocket soars overhead and the delayed rumble of the engines becomes a roar that vibrates through the landscape and to the viewers as they feel the effects.

Be right in the middle of the action as a new era in American space exploration takes flight. In 2019 SpaceX and Boeing plan the first crewed launches of their newest rockets, making history as the first privately operated manned space flights and first manned launches from US soil since the shuttle program ended. At Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, guests have the opportunity to view rocket launches featuring live launch commentary from space experts.

A veteran of four space flights, he has logged a total of 34 days in space, including 18 hours, 29 minutes of spacewalk. He flew as a Mission Specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1991 and served as Mission Specialist aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1993.
