Although the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" was incapable of winning a Grammy, since the Grammy's didn't begin until 1959, it was, however, the winner for best song at the 1939 Oscars.
This unforgettable tune is the theme of the "book nook/bench" made by Melissa's class this year. You may remember the children also sang it in the Fall Program and continue to request to sing it in class. The classic has become a favorite of theirs.
The rainbow is made out of the hand prints of the Kindergarten children. The other class members have used their fingerprints to make the bluebirds that fly above the rainbow and clouds. In addition to the bench, the Kindergarten children have also hand sewn a beautiful rainbow pillow to sit on top and we have included some themed books for the shelf on the bottom. Staff make the handprint clouds and sun.
The book nook will be an adorable addition to any child's playroom or bedroom. It can also be personalized with your child's name, if so desired. We hope you and your child will enjoy this one of a kind creation.
