You can still participate in the auction!Join us for a vibrant night of cultural exchange in support of contemporary craft at the ASU Art Museum. Ocasión is a fundraising dinner series that supports our most innovative museum initiatives. The evening will feature guest chefs, exhibition tours, silent auctions, music, interactive creation stations, and more.
Over the past two years, the ASU Art Museum has increased its research into the field of craft through the Windgate Charitable Foundation Contemporary Craft Initiative. This program has allowed the museum to bring dozens of artists and scholars to Arizona to work and study, as well as strengthen its collection holdings and fund student research through grant opportunities. Before the conclusion of this initiative, the ASU Art Museum is bringing together top leaders in the contemporary craft field from around the country to contemplate the future of craft in society and the impact that our institution can contribute to the community.
Ocasión: Contemporary Craft fundraiser is organized in conjunction with Notes from the Field: Contemporary Craft Roundtable, a national gathering of esteemed curators, scholars and art dealers invited to share their knowledge and thoughts on the important history and dynamic future in the field of contemporary craft.
Panelists of Notes from the Field: Contemporary Craft Roundtable will also be attending Ocasión:
Abraham Thomas, Curator-in-Charge, Smithsonian American Art Museum's Renwick Gallery
Andres Payan, Curator of Public Engagement, Craft and Folk Art Museum, Los Angeles
Jeffrey Spahn, Jeffrey Spahn Gallery
