A trio of top rated reds includes Gundlach Bundschu 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon,"Lancelot" Pisoni Vineyard 2013 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir , and Shafer TD-9 2015 Napa Valley.
Gundlach Bundschu 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon, 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate- Dark purple color, aromas of violet, anise and lifted red and black currant. Delicious upon release; optimal cellaring time four to 15 years from vintage.
"Lancelot" Pisoni Vineyard 2013 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir. One of the more tight and backward efforts in the vintage, the 2013 Pinot Noir Lancelot Pisoni Vineyard has a focused, pure and edgy style in its sweet black cherry, blackberry, spring flowers and distinct wet rock-like minerality. It shows more rose petal and floral notes with air, but also closed down slightly, so give bottles another year or two in the cellar. This is a gorgeous Pinot Noir that's a solid step up from the 2012. Rated 95+/100 The Wine Advocate
Shafer TD-9 2015 Napa Valley 92 Points Wine Spectator - Powerful and finely textured, with concentrated dried cherry, dark currant and roasted plum flavors that are filled with lively minerality. Richly spiced, showing dried herbal notes on the chiseled finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Drink now through 2022.
